The Baja Solar Eclipse

This children’s book describes the adventures of a little mouse who becomes a stowaway in a van heading into the Mexican Baja to see the Solar Eclipse. Three American travelers stop at Don Diego’s RV Park after crossing the border from the United States. Spending the night in their tent, they unknowingly pick up a little mouse who makes himself comfortable in the red van, munching away on granola bars, popcorn and whatever else he can find to eat during the journey of over a thousand miles. Opa, a gruff grandpa, becomes furious when he discovers popcorn trails, chewed-up granola bars and a toilet paper mess left by the little mouse. When he threatens to squash him if he catches him, the other two travelers, Oma and Sheri, say they kind of like the little guy and want to protect him. They name him Ricky Raton, because raton is the Spanish word for mouse. The book is illustrated with hand-drawn colored pencil pictures, done by the author.
